New Snake Species, Matilda's Horned Viper

  New species of venomous snakes found in remote parts of Tanzania, a country in East Africa. Snake with black and yellow along the 60 feet it also has a beautiful name: Matilda or full name, Matilda Horned Viper.


  As the name suggests, there is a form resembling the horns over the eyes of this reptile. The discovery of new species of the snake is then entered in the journal "Zootaxa."


  Matilda's name was taken from the name of the daughter of the Director of the Wildlife Conservation Society in Tanzania, Tim Davenport. Tim's daughter named Matilda, found the snake when he was 5 years old (now 7-year-old Matilda Davenport).

  However, scientists are hiding the location of the discovery of Matilda. Because, scientists are worried about Matilda became illegal game hunters.

  Conservation groups from the Wildlife Conservation Society said the snake habitat are just a few square kilometers. Habitat was already contaminated by illegal logging and charcoal-making place.

  Because of that, Matilda was then classified as a critical species and endangered species. However, the breeding colony was established, to save the sustainability of a new generation of Matilda.

  At least, three types of a viper snake found in Africa in the last three decades. Because it is a kind of viper snake are rare.
