The phenomenon of Sleep Paralysis

You opened my eyes. You just sleep for several hours. You can feel your mind drifting and out ofconsciousness. While trying to gather your consciousness, you try to wake up. However, there is somethingwrong. Your body cannot move, shortness of breath, as if there's going to turn invisible creature's chest. Youopen your mouth and started to scream; no sound came out. Someone is strangling my neck, do you think.There's something wrong.

Yes, you get my drift. We've all experienced it. First, I thought that the word phenomenon was called LucidDream. However, I was wrong. This phenomenon is actually called Sleep Paralysis or The Old HagSyndrome.

Those who experience this phenomenon sometimes feel scared because he thought being attacked bydemons. Not to blame. In the old days, there is a belief that this phenomenon is caused by the "Old Hag" or"magician" who was occupying the victim's chest. From there he got the name The Old Hag Syndrome.

According to the Gallup survey in 1992, almost all adults experience sleep paralysis at least once every twoyears. So this phenomenon is not something foreign to humans. Effort to investigate has been ongoing sincethe 1950s, but only really be understood when researchers begin to understand the relationship between theREM state (Rapid Eye Movement) with a dream.

Scientific analysis:
When we sleep, we will enter a certain stage. Indeed, there are many, but we will only seethe magnitude of the two phases, namely non-REM and REM.
When we sleep, the first 80 minutes, we enter a state of Non Brake, followed by 10 minutesof REM. 90-minute cycle is repeated about 3 to 6 times a night. During non-REM sleep, ourbodies produce some minor movement and eye twitching small.
When we enter the REM state, accelerated heart rate, breath becomes short and quick andour eyes move quickly (Rapid eye movement - REM). In this condition, we created a cleardream, and we can see objects in the dream.
Dr.Max Hirshkowitz, director of the Sleep Disorders Center at the Veterans AdministrationMedical Center in Houston says that Sleep Paralysis occurs when the brain we have atransition state between deep sleep dreams (REM dreaming sleep) and the conscious state.
During REM dreaming sleep, our brains turn off the motion of most of the musclesthroughout the body so that we cannot move. In other words, we are temporarily paralyzed.This phenomenon is called REM atonia.

"Sometimes, our brains do not put an end to our dreams or completely paralyzed while awake. This couldexplain why our bodies become stiff."

According to his research, Dr.Hirshkowitz concluded that this effect only lasts for a few seconds up to amaximum of one minute. However, for the victim, this experience seemed to last very long.

  Other creature sightings by Scientific:
Then, what about the sense of a supernatural creature that appears in our room?
Florence Cardinal, another of the researchers said that usually accompany hallucination'sSleep Paralysis. Sometimes, there is a feeling that no one else in the room, or even we couldfeel the creature is hovering over us.
Then, we can feel the pressure in the chest as being stepped on or sat on. In fact, there aresome victims who reported hearing footsteps, the door opened and a strange noise. It's quitescary, but normal. In fact, many researchers believe that the phenomenon of "alien abduction"or "attacked by evil spirits" is mostly associated with hallucination's Sleep Paralysis.

   At risk:
Then, under what conditions the Sleep Paralysis usually appear?
Some studies indicate the presents under certain conditions where the likelihood ofexperiencing Sleep Paralysis will be higher for someone. Those who experience it, is usuallyconcerned when sleeping on your back.
Then, the phenomenon is more common in those who experience excessive fatigue, orthose which disrupted normal sleep schedule.
An extraordinary, they are used to taking tranquilizers would be more likely to experience(ironic is not it?).

How do we avoid the Sleep Paralysis?

Here are some tips that result from clinical studies, namely:
a. Gets a good and regular.
b. Reduce Stress
c. Exercise regularly
In other words, a healthy lifestyle!

Spiritual Space In The Human Brain

Spiritual Space In The Human Brain

All this speculation about the place or the place of God in the brain is always debatable. Researchers at the University of Missouri, United States, found within the area within the brain responsible for spirituality.

Professor of health psychology at the University of Missouri, Brick Johnstone, said, "we have found a neuro-psychological basis for spirituality. More surprising, the area is not isolated to one particular area."

Spirituality is a much more dynamic concept that uses a lot of specific parts to the brain. It also plays a more significant role. However, they all work together to facilitate the spiritual experience of every individual.

The study was based on observations of Johnstone, who studied a group of people with traumatic brain injury. Injury that affects the right parietal lobe, the brain is located a few inches above the right ear.

Neuropsychological researchers have consistently shown that a decrease in focus on the right side as the brain is sometimes reduced in a person. The study also showed that people with this disorder feel more spiritual and closer to God.

Johnstone added the right side as the brain associated with self-orientation, while the left side associated with how individuals relate to others.

Giant Camera Pixels 3.2 Billion

Giant Camera Pixels 3.2 Billion

Appropriate size, the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) giant. The telescope is supported by the 3.2 billion pixels per inch is ready to photograph the night sky in a week for 10 years.

Detail design of this telescope has been announced by the creator. Once created, this telescope will provide data to a scientist's universe.

The research team telescope has received approval from the Department of Energy United States. They are now in the deepening phase of design, scheduling, and budget calculations.

LSST project was launched in 1998. "Very glad to see this project finally be able to walk," said LSST project director, Steven Kahn as quoted from page Space.com.

This observation telescope will gather at 6 million gigabytes of data every year. Every detail of the images will provide knowledge about dark energy, near-Earth asteroids and Kuiper belt region near the orbit of Neptune where Pluto and other objects circulating ice.

LSST can also monitor the Earth-threatening asteroids. All data LSST will be publicly accessible so that you can fly across the universe.

The telescope is scheduled for completion this year. However, the latest announcement says LSST construction began in 2014. Researchers have been prepared to do a mirror 8.4 meters in northern Chile.

Rubber Chicken in Space

Rubber Chicken in Space

The sun had severe radiation storms in the last month. Satellite stoned various particles. Aurora shines strongly on both poles of the earth. High-school students in Bishop, California, United States knew what to do. They launched a rubber chicken into the stratosphere.

The students are flying helium balloon shaped and contains a toy rubber chicken named Camilla. Mascot Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) was sent to 120 thousand feet altitude. Chicken will be exposed to the power of solar proton energy at close range.

"We complement Camilla with radiation sensors," Bishop said high-school student, Sam Johnson as quoted in the pages Nasa.gov.

The launch of a rubber chicken to measure the solar storms may sound strange. However, these students have an interesting reason. They're doing a project astrobiology.

"Later this year we plan to launch a microbial species to see if they can live on the space limit. This is a reconnaissance flight," said group member Rachel Molina is just 17 years old.

Outer space a lot of fans who are familiar with the figure of Camilla. Chicken has become the mascot of NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory. With the help of the guard from Stanford University, Romeo Durscher, Camilla has over 20,000 twitter followers, Facebook, and Google +. About the contents of the status of NASA's latest mission. Apparently, this chicken is also popular in the world of cyberspace.
